The Story So Far

I first took up swimming as a three year old as my parents wanted me to learn how to swim. So I was taught by Kerry Holland at the Holland’s family home in Cannon Hill. I was forced to stop that though as my sinuses kept playing up – probably caused by all the fumes that come with an indoor pool. I then tried nearly every other sport possible from Little Athletics to Rugby League to Volleyball. Unfortunately I was uncoordinated at nearly all of them so at age 8 I took up swimming a few times a week at the Thornlands pool after school. In the next four years I gradually built up to 6-7 swim sessions a week before moving to the Redlands Swim Club at Cleveland where I joined my first senior squad training with the likes of Ashley Callus under the direction of Brant Best. This was when I first decided that I wanted to make swimming ‘my sport’. In my early teenage years I trained as a middle distance swimmer under the direction of Dave & Chris Urquhart, racing the best age group swimmers in multiple state and national championships.

It wasn’t until the age of 21 after a long period out of the water that I took up competitive open water distance swimming and have really found my ‘calling’ in the sport.

I look forward to sharing my sporting endeavours and life travels with you,
